The lesson study topic we choose is an attempt to improve instructions to teach students to use Google maps, which is a utility program available online. Google maps on a whole can help pupils find various route maps, search for countries and capitals, locate and mark a position on the map etc. Our group objective in this lesson study was to teach the skills (parts) required to use Google maps using an example (e.g. finding routes, searching for countries).
The lesson plan has been developed as part of a strategy to improve key skills like multitasking, searching online maps, printing screens, cropping etc., rather than being a curriculum module. Students will use a myriad of skills as mentioned above which can be useful and used spirally (quote) across any subjects they learn and can help students to practically apply them in their day to day life.
